Red Velvet Cake
Ingredients
  • 1 oz. red food coloring
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons cocoa
  • 1/2 cup crisco
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Directions
    Mix food coloring and cocoa; cream crisco and sugar; add eggs and color mixture; sift flour and salt 3 times and add alternately buttermilk and vanilla. Remove from mixer and hand mix in vinegar and soda. Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes.
